Coffee Brewing Tips 01 - Define your taste

 

Understand what flavors you enjoy the most when choosing coffee beans in a supermarket or coffee shop. There is no right or wrong when it comes to coffee taste. Some people prefer dark roast, while others like light roast. Some enjoy fruity coffee, and some prefer dark coffee. Just choose the flavor you like.

 

了解自己對咖啡的口味是沖一杯好咖啡的第一步，有人喜歡帶花果香的淺烘焙咖啡，有些人喜歡像黑朱古力的深烘焙的咖啡。喜歡什麼味道是很個人的事，當中沒有對錯之分，只要選擇自己喜歡的味道就可以，不要盲目跟隨潮流和別人說好的風味。

 

1) When you walk into a coffee shop or supermarket, you will see a lot of different coffees. If you are a new coffee drinker, you might feel confused and unsure about which one to buy.

每次去到咖啡店和超市，看到那麼多的咖啡豆也不知道應該那一款，尤其是如果你是一個剛開始接觸咖啡的人。


2) Newbies are always confused about the label on the coffee bag, but in the end, it is the taste that is the most important element for most people.

對一個新手來說包裝袋上的說明有時像火星文，看似很詳盡，但不知所言。其實最香要的還是知道這包咖啡的味道。



3) For beginners, the most important elements on a coffee bag label are the roast level and flavor.

Roast Level: Indicates whether the coffee is sweet or bitter. Light or medium light roasts are more suitable for hand pour, while medium dark or dark roasts are more suitable for espresso.

Flavor: Describes what to expect in terms of taste.

 

對初學者而言包裝袋上的烘焙度與風味描述最重要。簡單而言淺烘焙比較甜適合手沖，深烘焙適合意式。風味方面包裝上的描述是一個味道的方向。很多時你不會真的嚐到標籤上的味道。


4) 1st you need to know whether you like sweet coffee or bitter coffee

2nd you need to know what kind of flavors you enjoy.

買咖啡前要先知道自己喜歡什麼樣的味道

第一是你喜歡香甜如水果茶般的味道還是黑朱古力般苦澀的咖啡

第二是你喜歡那一種的味道？因為水果中也有分很多種的，不同國家生產的咖啡味道也不一樣。


5) You may not taste the flavor described on the coffee label, but it serves as a guide for the expected taste of that coffee.

你未必會喝得出包裝袋上寫的風味描述，但那是一個方向給你一些概念那咖啡大約是那一個味道。

 

6) Always buy whole bean coffee. If you don’t have a grinder at home, buying pre-ground coffee is fine; just keep in mind that the aroma will be lost very quickly once you open the coffee bag.

買咖啡的時候最好買咖啡豆，因為預先磨好的咖啡打開後可能隔了一天就失去大量的香味。

 

7) There is no right or wrong when it comes to coffee taste; just choose the one you like.

喜歡那一種咖啡的味道並沒有對錯之分，明白自己的喜好，才能正確選擇自己的咖啡。不要盲目跟從別人說好的味道，因為每個人成長環境也不同，喜歡的味道也不會相同。忠於自己是最重要的一環。
